About
Hello world. My name, for the purpose of this site and all of my articles, is Korben Dallas. Yes, this is a psudonym I am using as an alias, mostly to protect myself, but also to protect those whom I will write about.
The most I will say, is I am a Deputy Sheriff in the State of Florida. A place, most know, is full of a majority of crazy. I've spent my whole life here, and I've seen a lot of things that can and would definitely make your heads spin. That is the purpose of this site, to tell those stories.
I've often found myself at parties or conventions, and at these events, when people find out what I do for a living, questions always arise:
-
What's the craziest thing you've seen?
-
What's the weirdest call you've been on?
-
What's the funniest story you've got?
-
Have you ever shot anyone?
I finally decided, you know what, I'm just going to answer these questions, uncensored, on my own blog. I know too, that there is a market for these kinds of stories... so maybe some day these stories can be published and shared around the world.
I began working in Law Enforcement in 2011. Since the first day I pinned the badge on my chest, I've been on a journey to truthfully find out what it means to wear a shining star. For some it's a power trip. For others, a chance to serve the public. For a lot, it's the thrill of putting yourself in harms way knowing that you are protecting innocent people and bringing justice to the, not-so-innocent.
To me, it's about giving back. For the most part, the career is a genuinely thankless job. Although people say thank you often, it's not entirely heartfelt or meant to be taken as an honest thanks. It's more of a, "Thanks for not screwing me." or "Thanks for not taking me to jail." Sometimes, however, you do something where you go above and beyond what you thought you were capable, and whether short-term, or long-term, you make a change in a person's life for the better. Just seeing that change, is enough to make you proud of the job you've done.
Every morning, when you wake up and begin putting on the uniform, you hope for the car chase, the foot pursuit, the fight... the adrenaline. Yet, in the back of your mind, you really just hope you go out today and make a difference. Sure, there are obstacles all along the way. Sometimes you run across the crowd of people who find the line of legality more ambiguous than you, or the person who thinks all cops are bad cops. The people who think you abuse your power. The people who think you have no power. Every day, you meet one of each type. In the end, you're measured by how you treat and react to every person you meet, and, at the end of the day, I want to be the one who helped.
Hopefully in these stories, I will get the chance to convey to you just what I am speaking. You'll get to experience the ups, and the downs, with me. The people who make my days a living hell... and those who make the next morning, getting dressed, a prideful event. You'll meet the folks who want nothing but to hurt me and my brothers in blue, and those who would bend over backward to help us out.
